Like most personal finance programs, PWS Money takes a little bit of time to set up, but as soon as you’re up and running, it’s a great tool for keeping an eye on your hard-earned.
Once you’ve inputted details of your different bank accounts – current accounts, savings account etc, you can set up all the transactions on those accounts. For example, if rent is taken out of your current account every month, it will be deducted and logged on PWS Money, showing you your current balance.
You can either manually or automatically set up the program to deduct or credit money from your accounts. Spent £20 on a hair brush lunchtime? No problem, off-the-cuff [unnecessary?] purchases can be manually debited from your account. One thing’s for sure, you won’t have to deduct any money for buying this software.
Providing you keep your transactions up-to-date, it’s like looking at a bank statement: how much has been paid; to whom and when. At the moment it’s keeping track of my current account: the standing order I pay monthly for rent, my monthly direct-debit contact lens payment, my monthly phone rental and gas bill payments – I’m also debiting any money I spend through the month. Oh dear, just looked at my account – looks like I’ll have to tighten my belt until the end of the month.
