You know it's somewhere on your PC, but you can't seem to find it. That elusive word processing doc, photograph, MP3 or other important file is hiding somewhere within the gigabytes of electronic file cabinets on your PC hard drive and you need it now.
It used to be that your only real option was to run the Windows search utility and then go walk the dog while the software crawled its way through every byte of file storage. But that was before Search GT, the file-find add-on for Windows that speeds up the file searching process by up to 100 times and is usually capable of finding your target file in 2 seconds or less!
Unlike some other resource-intensive search solutions that constantly hog system resources and create index files taking up disk storage space, Search GT doesn't work in the background and doesn't rely upon index files to get the job done.
Fully integrated with Windows Explorer, Search GT duplicates the Windows File Search functionality but with a greater degree of speed and efficiency. You simply start the search and get the search results within the Windows Explorer screen. You already know how to use Search GT. It's that simple.
Plus, because Search GT works in real-time, search results are always "up-to-date". This means that all file system changes (added/removed files, changed file names, etc.) are immediately reflected in the search results window as they occur.
You may prefer to use Search GT to find a file even if you do know its location. Starting a search from the root of the drive is often faster than browsing to the desired directory. You might want to quickly add all mp3 files from entire hard drive into a playlist of a media player. Just run a search, select all results and use ordinary Windows Explorer context menu to play the files. Advanced users might want to search for a virus/rootkit file that is hiding itself by hijacking Windows system libraries. Search GT is scanning NTFS drives directly - so it'll find any file existing on the drive. Server administrators might need to use such a "fast file search" utility to search NTFS drives with very high number of files (over a million). Usual file search takes enormous amount of time on such volumes, while Search GT handles it in seconds.
